What is Neo?

From Dependency to Devotion

The particular San Pedro lineage from which Neo arises comes to us through Trevor, a Southern California San Pedro farmer and devoted steward of the cactus.

Trevor's relationship with San Pedro began through his own healing journey. He describes years shaped by addiction, codependency, unresolved trauma, alcohol dependence, and reliance on medications associated with ADD. In his personal account, working with San Pedro became an important catalyst in changing his relationship with these patterns and ultimately helped inspire an entirely different way of life.

What began as personal healing became devotion.

Today, Trevor tends thousands of San Pedro cacti and has dedicated himself to studying, cultivating, propagating, and caring for this extraordinary plant.

As awareness of Huachuma grows throughout the world, he sees his role not merely as that of a grower, but as a caregiver to a living lineage—helping ensure that increased human interest in the medicine is accompanied by responsible cultivation, respect, and reciprocity.

Our accompanying Neo mini-course shares Trevor's story: from addiction, trauma, and codependency into a life centered around relationship with the cactus, alongside what he has learned through years of intimate cultivation and study.

His story is not presented as a medical prescription or a promise that another person's journey will resemble his own. Rather, we offer it as something deeply human: a testimony to what can become possible when greater awareness allows us to see our lives differently—and then choose differently.

NEO

The Medicine of Remembering

Neo is our San Pedro (Huachuma) sacrament—a sacred plant ally offered within House of Metamorphosis to support the journey of awakening, remembrance, and deeper relationship with life.

Native to the Andes and held ceremonially by Indigenous peoples of South America for thousands of years, San Pedro has long been revered as a plant teacher associated with expanded awareness, connection with the natural world, and opening of the heart. Its ceremonial history reaches back millennia, with representations of the cactus appearing in ancient Andean sacred sites and ritual artifacts.

Within House of Metamorphosis, we approach Neo not simply as a substance, but as a Sacrament of Awareness.

We believe that awakening is, in part, the gradual removal of what prevents us from seeing clearly: inherited patterns, conditioned beliefs, protective identities, unconscious behaviors, and ways of relating that once served us but may no longer reflect who we are becoming. Neo is offered as an ally in this process of seeing.

Rather than asking us to escape our human experience, the spirit of Huachuma invites us more deeply into it—to become present to our bodies, our relationships, Mother Earth, and the intelligence moving through all life. Members may experience the sacrament differently, yet its traditional and contemporary ceremonial use is often associated with qualities such as heightened awareness, emotional openness, compassion, connection with nature, expanded perspective, and a renewed appreciation for the sacredness of ordinary life.

For this reason, we understand Neo as particularly aligned with the awakening journey of The Sanctuary.

Our path is one of decentralized spirituality: we believe every person is a conduit for Creative Intelligence and possesses an inherent capacity for direct relationship with Source, God, Creator, or The All. No teacher, minister, medicine person, or sacrament can give us that connection. Rather, sacred practices and plant allies may help create conditions in which we become more capable of perceiving the connection that was already there.

Before You Begin

Receiving Neo with Awareness & Care

Neo is a Sacred Sacrament in the House of Metamorphosis apothecary, and we believe that reverence for the medicine includes reverence for the body receiving it—your body. Conscious preparation is therefore an essential part of our ceremonial practice.

Informed & Sovereign Choice
Your participation with Neo is always voluntary. You are invited to discern whether engaging with this sacrament feels aligned for you and to understand its potential physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual effects before choosing to participate. Receiving a Sacred Sacrament Kit does not create an expectation that you consume Neo.

Medical & Psychological Considerations
San Pedro (Huachuma) contains mescaline, a psychoactive compound that can produce significant alterations in perception, emotion, cognition, and physiological activity. It may not be appropriate for everyone. Certain medical conditions, psychiatric histories, medications, supplements, or other substances may increase the potential for adverse effects or interactions.

Please consult an appropriately qualified healthcare professional before engaging with Neo if you have a medical or psychiatric condition, take prescription medications, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have any uncertainty about whether San Pedro is appropriate for you. You should also disclose relevant medications and health considerations through HŌM's screening and informed-consent process before participating in facilitated sacramental experiences.

Medications & Dependency
One of the spiritual purposes for which House of Metamorphosis works with Neo is the exploration of dependency and the restoration of greater awareness, choice, and spiritual sovereignty. Your relationship with Neo may bring greater awareness to your relationship with alcohol, medications, or other substances and invite you to explore the deeper patterns, needs, or experiences underlying those relationships.

This does not mean that Neo should be used to independently discontinue or reduce prescribed medication. Abruptly changing certain medications can carry significant risks. If your journey inspires you to reconsider a medication, we encourage you to bring that insight into conversation with the clinician who prescribes or manages it and, where appropriate, develop a medically supervised plan.

Sacrament, Not Medical Treatment
House of Metamorphosis offers Neo as a religious sacrament within our sincerely held spiritual practice. We do not present Neo as a medical treatment or claim that it diagnoses, treats, cures, or prevents addiction, substance-use disorders, mental-health conditions, or other diseases.

We believe instead that sacramental experience can create opportunities for awareness, spiritual inquiry, and direct communion with the Divine. What you choose to do with what is revealed—including decisions concerning healthcare, medication, or substance use—remains an expression of your personal discernment and sovereignty, undertaken with appropriate professional support when needed.

Set, Setting & Integration
Your relationship with Neo begins before the sacrament is received and continues long after its immediate effects have passed. Your preparation, intention, physical environment, emotional state, community support, and integration can all profoundly shape your experience.

Approach Neo without demanding a particular outcome. Listen carefully to your body. Allow what arises to be met with curiosity rather than force. Remember that insight becomes transformation through integration: through the choices, conversations, practices, and relationships that follow.

Neo does not ask you to surrender your sovereignty to the medicine. It invites you to become more conscious of the sovereignty that was already yours.

Mindful Microdosing

As a member of The Sanctuary, you always have access to Mindful Microdosing—our companion course for your 12-week journey with the Trinity Sacred Sacrament Kits.

Created to support those releasing dependencies on pharmaceuticals, substances, and other patterns of numbing, this course weaves sacred ritual, emotional integration, and mindful practice into your microdosing journey. As you move through each season, you’ll be invited to deepen your relationship with the Earth, bring greater awareness and presence into your relationships, and listen more closely to the wisdom emerging from within.

Return to the course whenever you need grounding, guidance, or a reminder of your intention. The sacrament may open the doorway; your conscious participation is what transforms the journey into lasting inner progress.
